We have been supporting Sidney High School students since 1984

Sidney Dollars for Scholars is a community-based, non profit organization that was founded in 1984 for the purpose of raising scholarship monies to be distributed to graduates of the Sidney Central School district to promote educational opportunities. Sidney Dollars for Scholars serves as an umbrella organization for many of the local scholarship recipients.

Sidney Dollars for Scholars is an affiliate of the Scholarship America^® and thus shares in benefits such as tax-exempt status and opportunities for Sidney students.

Our organization generally receives funding through two sources. The first source is fundraising. While the organization has a community-based Board of Directors, it maintains an agreement with the Lydia Metz Chapter of the National Honor Society to aid the Sidney Chapter in fundraising events. Sidney Dollars for Scholars' major  fundraising event is the annual Phone-a-Thon held in March of each year. Our local students are enthusiastic in their efforts to reach out th their community for their support. Our goal of raising $10,000 each year has been largely obtainable despite the tough economic times, thanks to the continued support of many area residents and businesses.

The second source of funding is through memorials, trusts, and grants provided by individuals and various community and service organizations. If you would like to set up a new memorial or trust, please email Sidney Dollars for Scholars at sidneynydollars4scholars@gmail.com
